About the zoom burst look

Street and club lights in red, amber and white stretch into lines that race outward from the middle of the frame. An on-camera flash fires during the exposure and pins down part of the person, leaving the eye or beard crisp while streaks run straight through the rest. The quarter-second gives the zoom ring time for a full turn. Some frames push almost to pure speed lines.

Clothes, place and when to pick it

A glossy black vinyl coat catches every streak as a stretched highlight, which reads clearly against the dark.
