About the light shafts look
Everything depends on those beams. Slats overhead break the sun into narrow diagonal bars, and dust in the air makes each one visible. Exposure is set for the light, so the rest of the alley falls into deep shadow. A 35 mm lens at 1/15 s lets a walking body blur slightly, with the face reading clearly once it steps inside a shaft.
