About the train smear look
Half a second on a 28 mm lens is enough to pull the train into long horizontal streaks with one yellow stripe running through them. A tripod keeps the platform, the tiles and the person crisp. Fluorescent tubes overhead give hard, cold green-white light with little shadow detail. Faces look tired under it, which is part of the story.
