Clipped Sky: an old phone camera aesthetic AI photoshoot

A woman with long blond hair steps out of a shop doorway into sun, half her face shaded, the street behind blown white

Clipped Sky looks like a friend grabbed their phone on a sunny afternoon around 2013 and the sensor could not cope. Streets and glass doors burn to flat white, doorways go muddy and dark, and half the face often sits in shade while the leather jacket and wide trousers stay readable.

About the old phone camera look

Daylight is the only source. Hard afternoon sun hits the open sidewalk while awnings and entrances drop into deep shade, and the small sensor of a 2013 smartphone holds neither end, leaving thin cyan-magenta fringes along bright edges. The 26 mm-equivalent lens shoots at f/2.4, 1/500 s and ISO 50 from 1.5 to 3 meters. Noise reduction smears fine edges, the center is over-sharpened and the corners go soft.

Clothes, place and when to pick it

Women and men get different leather from haloshot here: women wear a cropped black bomber over a fitted white long-sleeve with very wide white pleated trousers and chunky loafers, men a boxy stand-collar jacket with wide stone trousers and chunky derbies. Shop doorways and glass entrances set the scene. Use it for a street-style post or a raw lookbook page with your face.

How it works

Add three photos of yourself: face, half turn and full length. haloshot renders a free five-frame preview of Clipped Sky with your face. Pick the frames you like and keep them in 4:5 HD.

How to capture the clipped old-phone street look

A small 2013 phone sensor cannot hold hard sun and deep shade at once, so the street clips to white while doorways go muddy and bright edges fringe.

  1. Use a 2013-era smartphone with HDR off; its 26 mm-equivalent lens, f/2.4 and ISO 50 base make the look.
  2. Pick shop doorways and glass entrances on a sunny afternoon, with hard sun outside and deep shade under awnings.
  3. Have a friend shoot vertical from 1.5 to 3 m, phone slightly crooked; in sun it lands near 1/500 s.
  4. Tap to expose on the shaded face so the street burns out, and let crops cut the head or feet.

Ask the shop first and keep its entrance clear for customers.
